美国威廉与玛丽学院LLM项目简介

The innovative LL.M. program is designed for foreign-educated students and attorneys who want to compete in an increasingly globalized legal world. We have been welcoming students from all over the world since 1989.

The traditional two-semester, full-time program begins in the fall or spring semester and ends with graduation in mid-May or January. All students participate in a mandatory Law Week, which begins one week before the official start of the semester, and includes a series of classes about the American legal system as well as legal writing and research. Students are required to participate in all Law Week events.

 

Admission Requirements

1. To qualify for this program, students must demonstrate that they:

  • have completed the necessary legal education required to obtain an LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws), LL.M. (Master of Laws), or J.M. (Juris Master) in a foreign country or to take the equivalent of the bar examination in that country;or
  • are qualified to practice law in a foreign country;

2. Applicants whose native language is not English, or who did not earn a law degree from an institution where instruction is in English, should take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

 

Application Requirements

  1. Original academic records - transcript(s) and confirmation of conferral of degree(s) in sealed envelopes. Include English translations of academic records;
  2. A minimum internet-based score of 90 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or a score of 6 on the International Language Testing System (IELTS);
  3. At least two letters of recommendation(optional);
  4. Resume;
  5. Personal statement.

Scholarships

Scholarships for the LL.M. Program are limited and are based on merit. The probability of receiving aid through the Law School depends on the availability of funds and applicant qualifications. Students must be prepared to pay necessary travel, living and educational expenses from outside sources.
